As a new member of the Networking Entrepreneurial Women of Marin, I was so honored present an in-person talk on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Left Bank Brasserie in Larkspur, CA on the topic of Creativity & Entrepreneurship: Bringing Whole Self Expression Into Your Business.
I began with the question: What does creativity mean to you and your business?
We all have preconceived ideas and stories that we tell ourselves which allow us to live our lives. Some result in wonderful outcomes. . .some not so much. In business, sometimes we might have to go along with what benefits others, even when we may not agree with or believe in it. By taking the time to inquire into what our own experience is, it can have the effect of empowering, validating, and connecting us with all the parts of ourselves that want and need expression.

A Daily Business Practice

For those of you on the way to becoming a boss babe, solopreneur, philosopreneur or other creative title for your role as a business owner, I have created a PDF exercise to help you get clear on what you would like to have happen each day of your business life—which I can tell you is pretty much every day!
One of my mentors and the founder of The Academy for Soul-based Coaching, Annemiek van Helsdingen, told us in my Invoke Your Client’s Magic training that we should do a minimum of 3 tasks each day relating to our business.
These activities, or actions, could be anything to do with your business. Get as creative and elaborate as you want, but it’s not necessary. It can be simply meditating on what you would like to have happen for your business today.
Or, you could send a direct message on social media to a potential ideal client, investor or simply network with someone in your field. Or, how about working on your website, social media promotion, flyer or graphic? Or, journaling about what you envision for the future sustainability of your business? The possibilities are so numerous it can be fun to see what happens each day.
I love Annemiek’s advice because it begins to instill the kind of daily commitment to your work that will be necessary for growing your business.
Routine is difficult for me, so be gentle with yourself about the “daily” aspect of it. However, in my experience, the times I do practice every day, it generates more structure, productivity, self-awareness, consistency, output and momentum!
